I hope your not talking about the many "I know something but I can't tell... but if you search you will find hints." stuff.

That does no one any good... and if you are rebutting a statement with a fact, a link to a post would help a lot more than just "search".

Particularly a person who (like most of us) budgets their discretionary spending.

Basically, if you bought the N800 and it doesn't do what you need it to do, return it while you still can. No one here can honestly say that Nokia will or will not support any particular future features.

It is what it is, and for now... that's all that it is.
Who are you addressing, YoDude? Speaking of things "that would help", identifying that would be one.

If it's in reference to my posts, please read carefully. I never said Nokia was working on Java. And there are posts on this forum offering significant detail about java development efforts, including Sun's, related to the N800. Of course, as Andrew pointed out, they may or may not address the original poster's concerns. I'm really not sure what's caused the latent hostility in your post but as far as I know it's unwarranted.

If your own nebulous post had nothing to do with any of mine, kindly disregard the previous paragraph. Thanks.

EDIT: one of the posts to which I referred-- http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ead.php?t=6162

Wow!

This forum isn't about you is it?

The post you referenced says nothing about Nokia working on JAVA.

And my statement remains. "No one here can honestly say that Nokia will or will not support any particular future features."

Can you?

Nothing latent nor hostile... Just an observation.

BTW, if anyone wants clues about what will happen in the future, simply read all my previous posts for hints. I'm pretty sure that if you reassemble the letters that I have used in these posts into completely new sentences, you will find all the information.

Some people don't have the patience that we have or they have an immediate need for JVM so it still isnt the device for them today. I personally would have a 800 but I know the second I get one a n900 with a HardDrive built in and video out will be released

See, as a developer/architect, I realize the potential of the 129 N770, it is huge. The storage of the N800 helps to approach the nextstep but faulters on the lack of improvement in graphics performance. So I just put down the N800. Immediately Woot should put them on sale for $129 so I can have one to change my mind

More hostility, whether you're honest enough to admit it or not. Passive aggressive hostility is hostility all the same.

I simply asked for clarification, YoDude. You provided no mindication as to whom you were addressing, yet some aspects appeared to refer to contents in my posts. Therefore, I felt it appropriate to ask. I have done nothing whatsoever to earn your mockery.

And again, for the record: I NEVER said Nokia was working on Java! Your persistence in reinforcing that strawman is mystifying. My remarks along those lines were general.

As you have conveniently ignored in your haste to respond to my innocuous post with unwarranted sarcasm, I also ended my post by stating that if your comments did not apply to me, then kindly disregard my other remarks. Why is that so difficult to do?

I don't know what else I can do to effectively communicate with you without garnering undue nastiness. Quite frankly, I don't get it. You seem to have some sort of bizarre personal problem with me with an origin I cannot fathom. If this is true, I respectfully request you put me on ignore and save the forum further drama. If I am mistaken, some objective honesty as to what the heck is going on with your snide responses is most welcome... that includes if you simply have a general sociopathic bent and it's "not all about me".

It would still be nice if you actually identified to whom you were responding, especiually if it wasn't me. Thank you.

I can too, bud. I don't see that you merit that condescending stance.

Understood. Too bad you and Andrew didn't post earlier.

Didnt mean to get anyone all bent over this... I was hoping the N800 would be sufficient as a laptop replacement while traveling. It comes VERY close, but the lack of a few software compatabilities makes it a BIG NO for me. I just purchased a Sony Vaio thing-a-ma-bob UMPC. I hate it!!! But it does the trick for now. It's not all about price, but $350.00 would have been sweet! Maybe an OQO or other UMPC will find its way in my carry-on before the weeks up.

I have to add the n800 isnt a laptop replacement... ,but its dang close.

I am very happy with my n800 , it has done almost everything i need in a portable device and will virtually eliminate my need for a large cell phone plan... im usually close to wifi so all my calling out will be done via the n800. my cell has unlimited incoming minutes so I'm pretty set

I love the ability to surf, email, stream music from virtually anywhere.

Just today i did some web work with a client at a restraunt and had mt n800 there to place and recieve calls.. all at no cost!

the n800 is a great device very functional as a basic computer.

Sorry for my part in disrupting your thread. That wasn't my intention-- I just hoped some of the Java development discussions here might help you, and didn't expect any backlash.

I agree with E-ville though.

Future for N800.... My crystal ball says the N800 with have nothing new when it comes to support for JAVA VM and a huge price drop.
