Re: Ovi Store N900 LIVE!!!

I don't know if this changed anything, but before using apt-get I did log into the URL above and tried to download the games from OVI Store - this did start the app manager and did add the OVI...

Re: Ovi Store N900 LIVE!!!

Sorry to tote this old horn, but N900 is not Nokia's flagship, it is a tech-head Internet tablet with phone. Maemo is a work in progress and with regards to the OVI Suite too.

Expect lots more...

Re: My N900 first 24hrs review ***Spoilers*** Its amazing!!! ***endSpoilers***

Yeah, it is just a device - I can't believe the amount of *****ing and moaning about it.

Re: My N900 first 24hrs review ***Spoilers*** Its amazing!!! ***endSpoilers***

Maemo 5 and N900 is still one step short of full smartphone, it is a mobile computer with limited phone feature-set. Your expectations at this time are not in line what Nokia announced and shipped. I...

Re: My N900 first 24hrs review ***Spoilers*** Its amazing!!! ***endSpoilers***

I've used mine for a couple of weeks now and I still love it. It is wonderful. The browsing, par none. As a phone, works great. Performance, openness, OS, multi-tasking - just beautiful. And as a...

Re: My N900 first 24hrs review ***Spoilers*** Its amazing!!! ***endSpoilers***

Except that I wouldn't recommend N900 for people wanting a full smartphone experience, I can understand and appreciate this review. Barring a defective unit (and clearly there are some out there) and...

Re: I think that Nokia rushed and released N900 with software that miss many functions

It was not.

N900 is not the flagship phone of Nokia and anyone reading the announcements and interviews around the announcements knows this. It comes from the Internet Tablet lineage. N97 still...

Smile Re: I think that Nokia rushed and released N900 with software that miss many functions

Exactly! Nokia announced the N900 as the step 4 of 5 in getting Maemo ready for a smartphone.

Hence step 4 of 5 not 5 of 5 yet.

The N900 is useful for a limited market and was truthfully...

Re: Nokia n900 horrible!

Absolutely do not buy the N900 as your company smartphone, unless carryng a mobile Linux computer is your personnels pockets is useful for your business.

No matter how much some people seem to...

This how Nokia announced the N900

This came from another thread, but there has been so much confusion about the goals and announcements concerning the N900, I thought a reminder was needed.

This was written by a blog earlier this...

Re: Nokia n900 horrible!

Would people settle for a compromise:

The N900 is not a consumer-level smartphone, and Nokia did announce it truthfully. But late PR and salespeople pitches have muddied the issue and Nokia needs...

Re: Nokia n900 horrible!

Yeah, just like the great phone N800, that is also listed there. The N900 is a phone, though. But that is not its full description or product goal - and it definitely is not a consumer-level...

Re: Nokia n900 horrible!

But so it doesn't get lost in the mix: I do agree Nokia.com should explain this better. They do link to the info, and to maemo.nokia.com, all pics are in landscape, no MMS is listed in features and...

Re: Nokia n900 horrible!

Maybe Nokia should have shifted gears but they didn't/couldn't. I don't know why you are expecting the N900 to be something it wasn't announced to be and clearly isn't. It is one thing to hope and...

Re: Nokia n900 horrible!

But the thing is: Nokia told us all this beforehand! They were clear the Maemo was not yet ready for consumer smartphone use, hence they were releasing a step 4 of 5 - a mobile computer with phone...

Re: Have I bought the wrong phone?

Not to mention the stylus is really useful when browsing websites with small links, without having to zoom in every time. Just point with the stylus that is precise and doesn't block your view.

Re: This phone is freaking amazing.. day in the life..

Nokia N900 is a mobile computer. Those expecting it to have consumer-smartphone features will be disappoined because Nokia said from the get-go it would not have all of that - Maemo 6 will be the...

Re: I'll buy N900, but I have questions about it :/

3)

N900 is not a smartphone, it is a mobile computer with some phone functionality.

I agree with you Untouchab1e. Those reading my messages carefully can hopefully see that.

Whatever N900's shortcomings as a mobile computer, any instability or bugs, certainly warrant our...
