This, this I don't like. Defensive, traditional thinking. An OS that only geeks can possibly care about for the next four quarters, and has an market share of 0.00% should not start it's segmentation...

I simply don't care if the UI is closed, I can replace it with another one (e.g. xterm :p). Now, if the drivers are closed, I have no way to install a newer kernel, which in turns will preclude me...

Exactomundo! Jolla would indeed be ill advised, not to use multitasking. Sooner or later all mobile OS will have to overcome such artifical restrictions, because the hardware is getting more and more...
