All this is, is a straight compilation of the current GPSBabel source under the latest Maemo scratchbox. It...

Re: usbserial on N8X0!
I've just managed to connect my Garmin eTrex GPS to my N810 using a USBSerial Garmin cable and the USB Host mode stuff. After recompiling GPSBabel for my N810 I was able to extract the tracklog from...

Re: Running Windows 3.1 on an N810
It's not bad. A bit slow, but kind of usable, it'll crash if anything tries to open a display that won't fit on the N810's screen though.

Inspired by this post, and being slightly bored on a warm, quiet Sunday I present to you...
The GEM Desktop in DOSBOX. I wrote about it on my website if anyone's interested in how I made it work

Re: Actually saw Demo n800 in CompUSA
Here in the UK N800s have been on display in PC World stores since about the time the N810 first came out (yeah, that doesn't make sense, does it?). The poor things look like similar touchscreen...

Re: apt-get dist-upgrade error
Ahh right.
So getting confused and thinking "This is Debian Linux, let's just do 'apt-get upgrade' from XTerm" is a bad idea then?

Re: Dont Purchase with Paypal
I hope it's the same in the US, but here in the UK we have very strict laws about buying things "at a distance" - we're allowed to simply send stuff back within 7 days for any reason at all, and...

Re: apt-get dist-upgrade error
Maybe they want to break their tablet and enjoy the reflashing process?
I did this once to my N800 and cleverly prevented it from booting up afterwards. While reflashing things and restoring...

Re: Running Windows 3.1 on an N810
Yeah, I'm also interested in how you did it. How well does it run? I used to run Windows 3.0 on my 1 meg 286 with acceptable results, so I guess the N810 copes quite well?
I think I need to play...

Re: Offline browsing
Ah right. That's going to be difficult since the N800's web browser won't even start up unless there is an Internet connection. I discovered this when trying to use the Google Gears plugin.

Re: day planner for os 2008?
Installing half a gig's worth of KDE just to run an organiser is a bit... extreme though.
N8xx PDA apps are pretty much non-existant. The best I've managed is Google Calendar in my web browser and...

Re: How/where To Attach Gps Unit & N800?
I used a small velcro sticky square and stuck it to my dashboard out the way. Cleaverly this also let me see the status of it by watching the reflection of its LEDs in my windscreen.
Alternately,...

Canola does work in Diablo. I used it on my way to work this morning in fact :) I think searching this forum will show you some useful tips on making it work.

The 2mm charger plug could be a special Nokia invention, but it's hardly difficult to find a charger with one of those plugs on. My local £1 shop sells USB multi chargers with them on.

Re: Full Access to our IT

Re: How I listen to mp3 with the N8x0
I just installed Canola and put the music on my N810's internal memory card.
Err... that's it. I'm sure I could manage a more elaborate way involving half a dozen linked applications... but I'd...
