It might be a loose connector... Instead of pressing the power button try squeezing the case near the power button (front-back).
It has been a long time since I had to open-up my n800 to replace...

The n800 is my media machine for flights/etc -- 32 GB + 16 GB SD cards: books, movies, music.
The n810 is still used mostly bedside for browsing.

Decided to try MyMenu again...
Works great! It has the 'My Selection' type row of icons at the top that I wanted... (I would put the 'Web' icon there instead of 'Calendar', but that is just me)

I haven't gotten avahi to work correctly on my n900, yet, but have avahi on my n8x0 tablets...
Yes, rename the S14 and ?S16? avahi scripts to S21 (that is what worked on my tablets).

Same here... MyMenu put me in an infinite boot loop until it finally got stuck mid-boot -- had to reflash.
Catorise does just what I had been looking for. I'm just waiting for a nice GUI editor...
