Re: Auto-repeat phone call?

Dunno bout any daemon, but how about a shell script, using dbus method_calls. You can find some useful hints in wiki under http://wiki.maemo.org/Phone_control.

Re: [Suggestion] Sticky Posts to avoid thread spamming!?

With all due respect, maemo.org is still a quite active site with a number of different types of services, numerous stakeholders with various interests and a big number of users (almost 50.000 only...

Re: [Suggestion] Sticky Posts to avoid thread spamming!?

One more idea...
How about an automatic e-mail to the OP after say 20 posts or two weeks of inactivity in a thread, saying something like:

"Did information in this thread help You? If you...

Thumbs up Re: [Suggestion] Sticky Posts to avoid thread spamming!?

Two thumbs up, IMO this is close to show stopper, especially for those, who don't want to register at maemo.org.

You really think so? Maybe, the wiki editor is even just half as *powerful* ;)...

Re: [Suggestion] Sticky Posts to avoid thread spamming!?

So, how about something like say a button to klick, to mark a thread a technical issue (to contrast against those "...drink my beer.." or "...Nokia goes Windows..." threads). A moderator would be...

Re: my phone got stuck in portrait mode

LOL

If you read over numerous threads (especially those "firmware update" and "meego for n900" kind) there's a mass of people desperately longing for this "portrait mode" feature. Maybe, if you...

Re: What is this os on n900?

Gee, didn't know such stuff really exists. To me, the most obvious fake indicator was the desirable improvement in the four cursor keys ;°) But this applies exactly to the Papayaone device. Still...

Re: Unable to see /home directory when connected via USB

P.S.: You can at least read from both sides simultaneously and write, too. But you won't see files you create in this state from PC on N900 or vice versa. However, if you unmount it from N900 and...

Re: Unable to see: /home directory when I....

Guess I understand what you desire to do. The short answer is:
It is possible, but not by the default behavior. Actually MyDocs is a separate partition (/dev/mmcblk0p1). You can see this, if you...

Re: Have a big headache about calling

I'm not experienced in this stuff, but as far as I understand your problem, I wonder whether you store both versions of numbers for each contact entry or only the long one. I'd understand, that N900...

Re: [Linux bash] Why is this not working?

If you run linux on your PC and ash is installed:
> man ash
contains all of it. Unfortunately man and manpages are not preinstalled on N900 :°(

Re: [Linux bash] Why is this not working?

Forgot to mention: This only works for

my=`/sbin/ifconfig usb0`

otherwise it would be true if *any* network adapter is RUNNING, as all lines are parsed by grep and it would find some line with...

Re: [Linux bash] Why is this not working?

If you only want to check, whether it is running or not, you could do

if `echo $my | grep -q RUNNING`

Note: no "test" or [...]. grep -q is "quiet" and gives a return value for "found" or "not...

Re: [Linux bash] Why is this not working?

Yep, * has its wildcard characteristic only by certain interpreters. Bash interprets it as gobuki described, as long as it's actually interpreted by bash (i.e. not escaped e.g. by \ or ''). Compare...

Hi everybody,
I'm just trying to get the Application Manager on my N900 to work on a partial local copy of the maemo repo. This means, that I copied the directory structure, the Packages file and a...
