Well, it's been going for 40 mins now. Any news, or is it pretty much a state-of-the-nation (which we largely knew)

They're looking for help for some relatively easy errors. Once those are fixed, we'd have a GUI version. Some other people have fixed the errors before but haven't returned the changes yet.

What kind of Java apps run on it? It doesn't run 'regular' (non micro) Java apps, does it?

Arrrrgh, slept through it. Stupid time zones.

Post a link the recording, please.

ysss: specifically it's the kind of java apps that run on cellphones --- like google's excellent mail client, Microsoft's awesome live search app, and several others.

The first part of the call was Sun explaining how to get the phoneme advanced source code and how it can be compiled for the N800.
The second part of the call was one of the N800 developers (sorry I didn't get the name) explaining to Sun how N800 development is normally done using vmware.
The third part of the call was Sun explaining about the GTK patches which had been created but never submitted back for integration into the main codebase.
After that, I had to drop out to go through airport security.
I don't know whether there was any discussion about the difference between a generic GTK port and a Maemo port or about versions of GTK.

Shouldn't make much of a difference once we're synced up... Chinook, I believe.
