Yes, uninstall previous version and then install from here (https://garage.maemo.org/projects/omweather/)(look for OS2008 version)
Once installed, don't forget to reboot to get it working properly...

Abiword seems to be the choice, but afaik it hasn't been ported yet for OS2008.
Others were using antiword or doc reader, but they are more complicated since you should execute them from command...

As far as I can remember, I was able to arrange the applets and then, accepting the design, lock them. I always prefers freedom of choice, so better would be lock/unlock option. Common sense.

Apart from the keyboard, you should consider if the GPS stuff is really important for you. If not, I don't see any other aspect that can do the N810 a winner over the N800 regarding the price gap...

Nice video utility
If you need to do some video converts to get it working on N800 this is a excellent and free tool...I was using it to convert some Seinfeld episodes and works really fine....
